Vancouver Eco Fashion Week and Nicole Bridger

We were lucky enough to have had the opportunity to attend the amazing Nicole Bridger show, as well as the opening and closing gala for the only North American fashion week featuring the latest in environmental and sustainable fashion, Vancouver Eco-Fashion Week.

Nicole Bridger’s Spring 2011 collection is said to have been designed with the idea that Nicole herself would want to be seen and wear each piece. In a recent interview, Nicole also admits that, “I get most of my inspiration from events or changes in my personal life. For Spring 2011 I took a lot of inspiration from my recent divorce.” The collection was meant to representative of change, for a better and happier way of living. On top of that, the collection itself displayed clear hints of femininity, but then edged out with intricate draping and flattering cuts. On top of the ultra hip, funky vibe the collection presented, it is important to take note of the fact that her collection was designed entirely around the principles of sustainable fashion, a cause which is very close to her heart. Each of her garments are made locally, using bamboo, organic cotton, hemp jersey and organic knits.
We here at DITC want to congratulate Nicole on an amazing show and wish her all the very very best in her very bright future!
